Bookmark and Share The Aritzo Chesnut and Walnut Festival
This is a festival not to be missed! Aritzo is a small mountain town, in the Nuoro region,famous for its chestnuts and walnuts. Aritzo is also well known for handmade wooden furniture is stillmade in the village today such as ''cascie'' the carved wedding chests which can be bought in the craftsmen’s workshops.

When is It?
It explodes into life in the last weekend in October to celebrate the bountiful nut harvests. The festival lasts from the Friday to the Sunday.

What happens in Aritzo?
For three days Arizo is filled with the woody aromas of the roasting chestnuts which are piled high in wooden baskets and offered to visitors. Chestnuts and walnuts are not the only thing on offer, taste the succulent suckling pig which is roasted in front of your eyes. There are organised tasting sessions allowing you to try some local produce such as wine , cheese, the local sorbet called carapigna and the famous nougat. Throughout the three days of festivities there are a range of processions and musical concerts and cooking demonstrations.

Where is Aritzo?
Aritzo is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Nuoro,Sardinia, located about 80 km north of Cagliari and about 40 km southwest of Nuoro. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 1,445
