About Dorgali the region
Comprising of a population of 8000 people in the vast area of 225 square kilometers, it is a commune in the Province of Nuoro located in the Italian region of Sardinia. Overlooking the Gulf of Orosei, the coastline is spectacular with cliffs and beaches notable being the Grotto del Bue Marino. door to post notices of death sentences passed on their enemies.

The festival takes place on the last weekend in October.
What happens in Dorgali
During the festival, wander down the streets of the little mountain town with a warming red wine in hand, admiring the local craftsmen as they work on sculpting beautiful pieces of traditional Sardinian furniture. There are also jewelry and leather work exhibitions which demonstrate the incredible skills which the locals have. There is as always the oportunity to sample the local sweets and foods.

Grotta di Ispinigoli
One of the largest grottoes in the island, houses a large stalactite-stalagmite compound, the tallest in Europe and one of the tallest in the world, measuring some 38 m in total. The grotto also include the so-called Abisso delle Vergini ("Abyss of the Virgins"), a c. 60 m-deep hole leading to a 12 km series of caves connecting Ispingoli to the other grotto of San Giovanni Su Anzu. it's said that human sacrifices were held here during the Phoenician rule in this area.
Tiscali
The area of dorgali is archaeologically rich with villages of nuragic huts of Sa Sedda 'e sos Carros(1500 BC),found at the openinge to the valley of Lanaittu
Another worthwhile visit is to the underground village of Tiscal found in a deep hole housing a nuragic village, made up of ancient huts
In close proximity to Tiscali is also found the gorge of Su Gorropu, with walls of over 400 metres ,is one of the highest canyons in Europe.
Where is Dorgali?
Dorgali is little mountain town in the Province of Nuoro, located about 130 km northeast of Cagliari and about 20 km east of Nuoro in the Seaside Supramonte mountain area.
The local economy is based on the vine and wine production and, in summertime, on tourism, because of the beautiful beaches on the nearby coastline.
